Race Report – Knockhill BSB – Hel Motostar – 7-8 July

I had a great weekend racing at Knockhill race circuit for the BSB Hel Motostar Moto3 Standard Championship as it is my home track and it meant lots of friend and family could come and watch me. I really like the track, it’s short but technical so it is difficult but I also got my race licence and had my first geared bike race here and I am the 2017 F125 Champion so it has lots of good memories for me. Just like all the BSB rounds we arrived on the Thursday to help get everything set up for Friday practice the only difference was that we only had an hour’s drive! At the last round of the BSB I had got a 7th position and since then I’ve had top ten finishes at the British talent Cup so I was hoping I could get good results. Friday Practice The weather was great for free practice and was going to be the...

Super Seventh at Snetterton

Super Seventh at Snetterton

Jack Hart finished the latest round of the inaugural British Talent Cup in superb 7th and 13th places moving him up to 11th overall in the championship.  At 13 years old Jack is one of the youngest of the 23 riders making up the British Talent Cup and this was a fantastic achievement. The races were held at the 3 mile long Snetterton Race circuit in England running along with the British Superbike Championship.  This was a completely new track for Jack to learn and after a good day of practice on the Friday he was confident he could be challenging for a top ten finish. Weather was good for Saturday morning qualifying and the BTC team had the bikes set up for a dry session, with Jack's bike having had some suspension modifications to try and help his feel for the track.  In the first half of the session Jack found himself in a group of riders who were all overtaking...

First Top Ten Finish in the British Talent Cup

First Top Ten Finish in the British Talent Cup

The bank holiday weekend saw the British Talent Cup return to Donington Park Race Circuit for round 2 where it was running with the World Superbike Series. The first round of the BTC had been cut short due to horrendous weather conditions with the second race being cancelled due to the flooded track. The weather hadn’t improved much for round 2 and young Jack Hart from Renfrew headed out onto a very wet circuit with the other Talent Cup riders for FP1 on Friday morning. Friday Practice and Qualifying Jacks main aim was to just get a feel for the track and conditions without worrying too much about his lap times. This went well for the majority of the session as he was in the top ten but on the final lap he was caught out with a stream that was running across the track and ended up with a sore high side. Jack dusted himself down as the BTC team set...

Jack Hart in the points in first British Talent Cup Race

Jack Hart in the points in first British Talent Cup Race

Jack Hart finished the first ever British Talent Cup race in an excellent 13th place picking up his first championship points in the process. The 23 riders making up the British Talent Cup got their first taste of competitive action in far from ideal conditions at Donington Park last weekend. As they went out for the first free practice session on Saturday the rain was falling. The track had plenty of water in places and the temperatures were very low. Free Practice The aim of the first session was really to get a feel for the bike in wet conditions but stay calm and learn what you could. He finished the 30-minute session in 18th position. The second free practice saw some improvement in the weather. The rain had stopped and a thin dry line had begun to appear on the circuit. It was still very cold though. With more experience of the track under his belt Jack Hart steadily improved as the session...

European Talent Cup Valencia 2017

European Talent Cup Valencia 2017

That’s my 2017 race season finished now after getting home from the 7th round for race 11 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. It's been another hard but amazing weekend, as we struggled with my setup and never really got it sorted but I have loved racing on this circuit again and now can’t wait to go there again for testing with the British Talent Cup in March. Friday Practice We arrived on the Thursday and as with most of my race reports my dad had to get my bike repaired from my crash in the last race. We would normally have testing on the Thursday as well but as the MotoGP had been testing there we only had the Friday for testing. The Friday test is just two sessions so it’s important for the bike to be right, unfortunately I knew quickly in the first session that there was something wrong with my...

European Talent Cup Motorland Aragon 2017

European Talent Cup Motorland Aragon 2017

I've had a great time at the 6th round for races 9 and 10 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at Motorland Aragon. Its an amazing track is mega fast and is my now favourite after Valencia. It's been another hard weekend but I have definitely been enjoying riding the bike and my times/results have been a lot better. Practice Thursday/Friday We arrived later on the Wednesday and once again had to get my bike built back together after some repairs from my crash in the last race. I knew right away in the first session that I would like the track and was quickly doing some good times. By the third session I was overtaking other riders and concentrating on braking later and trying to get on the gas quicker which is where I've really been losing time. We put some newer old tyres in for the last session to see if it helped me get more grip. Unfortunately the...

Melville F125 Championship Rd 4 East Fortune

Melville F125 Championship Rd 4 East Fortune

I'm absolutely delighted to have won both the Melville Club and Open F125 Championships this weekend to add to my Knockhill F125 Championship 🍾🎉🍾🎉😀. I'm so proud to have won all three Scottish 125 Championships in my first full season road racing. Saturday Race 1 I had qualified in 2nd position on Saturday which I knew was ok as at East Fortune the first 3 all start in a line. I got a good start and was in 1st position for the first lap but Adon then got past me. I followed close behind him but I didn't want to make a mistake trying to overtake as all I needed to do was finish all my races to win the Championship. So I finished in a comfortable 2nd Position. 2nd Position. Saturday Race 2 I got another good start and was 1st again but Adon was right behind me. I managed to do some good laps but Adon was still right behind me, on the fourth...

European Talent Cup Jerez 2017

European Talent Cup Jerez 2017

I had a bit of a frustrating time at the 5th round for races 7 and 8 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at the Circuito De Jerez. It is another technical track and is very fast but I really enjoyed it from the first day. I was aiming to be nearer to the pack in front of me right from the start which I did but this made the end results quite disappointing. Practice Thursday/Friday We arrived again on Wednesday and had to get my bike built back together after some repairs from the last round and get everything ready for Thursday practice. I knew I had to get on the pace quicker so I spent a bit of time with Rory Skinner and Dan Jones learning the track. I had an ok first session but again found it difficult getting used to the bike again after riding my 125 in Scotland. In the second session, it felt much better...

KMSC F125 Championship Rd 4 Knockhill Reverse

KMSC F125 Championship Rd 4 Knockhill Reverse

The fourth round of the Knockhill Motor Sport Club F125 Championship was in the reverse direction at Knockhill. I had already won the championship at the last round so I was quite relaxed but I still wanted to win the races. My dad was working on Friday for practice so my mum took me, the bike felt good from the start and I actually enjoyed the reverse direction more than I did the last time we raced it so I was confident for the races. Saturday Qualifying The weather was dry for qualifying, I let everyone go first to leave a gap in the track but it also give me targets to chase and try and get some good laps in. My first couple of laps were steady as I overtook some of the other riders and I then got a bit of clear track chasing Adon and Logan and set my fastest lap which was a personal best and also good...
