Renfrew’s Jack Hart finished in a fantastic 4th position at the last round of the British Superbike Motostar Moto3 Standard Championship which moved him up to 11th overall in the final championship standings in his rookie year.  The racing took place at the iconic Brands Hatch GP race circuit in England.

The last couple of rounds had been difficult for the young 14 year old after he’d had a couple of big crashes and was rebuilding his confidence whilst he was also leaning new tracks , however, after getting  some excellent coaching over in Spain he was confident he could be challenging for top ten finishes in both the Saturday and Sunday races.

For the early Saturday morning qualifying session Jack set out to try and continue his learning of the track from the Friday practices and not just try for one fast lap, this was to ensure that he had good race pace as he was confident he could make up places in the race.  Even though he was concentrating on his race pace he set a good time and qualified in 14th position for the first race.   Jack was happy with that as he was only 1.5s from 6th position and with a good start as he knew he would be able to go faster in the race and challenge for the top ten.

In race one Jack got an good start and made up a couple of positions but he then had to battle with another rider to get into 10th position and by the time he had done that the group in front had pulled a gap. He then settled into a race long battle where he managed to stay in front and secure an excellent 10th position.  Jacks fastest lap time also ensured he moved up a place on the grid for the Sunday race.

Race two was in very wet conditions on the Sunday afternoon and after a good morning warmup Jack was feeling confident for the race and was determined to get a good start and get into the top ten quicker to be able to fight for the top six.  However, on the warm up lap young Jack had a problem with his visor misting and this meant that at the start of the race he had to guess his way round and try to keep out of the way, not ideal at 120mph! After a couple of laps Jacks visor started to clear and he could concentrate on being smooth to try and work his way up from the 17th position he found himself in.  Lap after lap Jack made up positions setting the fifth fastest lap of the race to get to an amazing 5th position with 3 laps to go.  Jack could see 4th positon just in front of him and he pushed hard to catch and overtake on the last lap to secure an unbelievable 4th position.  This also moved him into 11th position overall for the championship in his rookie year racing in the BSB Motostar class.

Jack Hart said, ”It was a nightmare and a bit scary in the first few laps with my visor misted up but I tried to stay calm and this helped me be smooth which you need to be in the wet so I was able to then make up a lots of positions.  I’m delighted to finish the season with 4th position and to have secured 11th overall in the championship in my first year especially as I am one of the youngest riders.”

Jack now has a few weeks of training before the last round of the British Talent Cup which is in Valencia running along with the last MotoGP race of the season on the 17th and 18th of November.
