European Talent Cup Valencia 2017

European Talent Cup Valencia 2017

That’s my 2017 race season finished now after getting home from the 7th round for race 11 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. It's been another hard but amazing weekend, as we struggled with my setup and never really got it sorted but I have loved racing on this circuit again and now can’t wait to go there again for testing with the British Talent Cup in March. Friday Practice We arrived on the Thursday and as with most of my race reports my dad had to get my bike repaired from my crash in the last race. We would normally have testing on the Thursday as well but as the MotoGP had been testing there we only had the Friday for testing. The Friday test is just two sessions so it’s important for the bike to be right, unfortunately I knew quickly in the first session that there was something wrong with my...

European Talent Cup Motorland Aragon 2017

I've had a great time at the 6th round for races 9 and 10 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at Motorland Aragon. Its an amazing track is mega fast and is my now favourite after Valencia. It's been another hard weekend but I have definitely been enjoying riding the bike and my times/results have been a lot better. Practice Thursday/Friday We arrived later on the Wednesday and once again had to get my bike built back together after some repairs from my crash in the last race. I knew right away in the first session that I would like the track and was quickly doing some good times. By the third session I was overtaking other riders and concentrating on braking later and trying to get on the gas quicker which is where I've really been losing time. We put some newer old tyres in for the last session to see if it helped me get more grip. Unfortunately the...

Melville F125 Championship Rd 4 East Fortune

I'm absolutely delighted to have won both the Melville Club and Open F125 Championships this weekend to add to my Knockhill F125 Championship 🍾🎉🍾🎉😀. I'm so proud to have won all three Scottish 125 Championships in my first full season road racing. Saturday Race 1 I had qualified in 2nd position on Saturday which I knew was ok as at East Fortune the first 3 all start in a line. I got a good start and was in 1st position for the first lap but Adon then got past me. I followed close behind him but I didn't want to make a mistake trying to overtake as all I needed to do was finish all my races to win the Championship. So I finished in a comfortable 2nd Position. 2nd Position. Saturday Race 2 I got another good start and was 1st again but Adon was right behind me. I managed to do some good laps but Adon was still right behind me, on the fourth...

European Talent Cup Jerez 2017

European Talent Cup Jerez 2017

I had a bit of a frustrating time at the 5th round for races 7 and 8 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at the Circuito De Jerez. It is another technical track and is very fast but I really enjoyed it from the first day. I was aiming to be nearer to the pack in front of me right from the start which I did but this made the end results quite disappointing. Practice Thursday/Friday We arrived again on Wednesday and had to get my bike built back together after some repairs from the last round and get everything ready for Thursday practice. I knew I had to get on the pace quicker so I spent a bit of time with Rory Skinner and Dan Jones learning the track. I had an ok first session but again found it difficult getting used to the bike again after riding my 125 in Scotland. In the second session, it felt much better...

KMSC F125 Championship Rd 4 Knockhill Reverse

The fourth round of the Knockhill Motor Sport Club F125 Championship was in the reverse direction at Knockhill. I had already won the championship at the last round so I was quite relaxed but I still wanted to win the races. My dad was working on Friday for practice so my mum took me, the bike felt good from the start and I actually enjoyed the reverse direction more than I did the last time we raced it so I was confident for the races. Saturday Qualifying The weather was dry for qualifying, I let everyone go first to leave a gap in the track but it also give me targets to chase and try and get some good laps in. My first couple of laps were steady as I overtook some of the other riders and I then got a bit of clear track chasing Adon and Logan and set my fastest lap which was a personal best and also good...

British Talent Cup 2018 selection event

British Talent Cup 2018 selection event

Just home after an amazing couple of days at the selection of the 2018 British Talent Cup, I'm absolutely delighted to have been picked and really happy for all my other friends who got picked but also really sorry for the ones who didn't. I didn't get picked for the BSB minimoto teams last year so know how it feels. I was feeling confident when we arrived that I could do well but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to get into the final 22 riders as there was loads of really fast and experienced riders. In the first session I was one of the first groups out, I tried to do what I was told and be smooth (but fast!), get faster every lap but definitely do not crash. I managed to do all three but as I watched the rest of the groups I realised how much faster they looked. I made the cut though and in the...

Melville F125 Championship Rd 3 East Fortune

It was a very difficult race weekend after Superbike racer Frank Dignan sadly lost his life after an accident in his race on Saturday, RIP Frank and our thoughts and prayers are with all your friends and family. Race 1 I had qualified in 3rd position on Saturday which I knew was ok as at East Fortune the first 5 all start in a line and 5th position is actually better than 1st! I got a good start and was in 1st but going into railway I new there was something wrong with my brakes, I managed to hold 1st the rest of the lap until the last corner but then I couldn't stop and ran on and hit the tyres 😱. I've had to officially sack my mechanic now so if anyone wants to help with the last two races let me know 🙄😜 DNF Race 2 I got another good start and was 1st again but Ross was right on my tail. We changed positions...

European Talent Cup Estroril 2017

I had another great experience at the 4th round for races 5 and 6 of the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup at the Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva in Estoril. It is a very technical track and quite a bit different to the tracks we mainly race in Spain and is a bit more like the tracks in the UK. Again my main aim was to get as much time on the bike and practice as possible, but I was also hoping to get nearer to the pack in front of me so I can start to compete for points. Practice Thursday/Friday We had arrived on the Wednesday and had changed my engine so we had everything ready for Thursday practice. As this isn’t a track the other teams visit often I hoped that would help me get on the pace quicker. I had an ok first session but found it difficult getting used to the bike again after riding my 125...

KMSC F125 Championship Rd 3 Knockhill

The third round of the Knockhill Motor Sport Club F125 Championship was back to the normal direction at Knockhill and I like that better than reverse. I knew if the results went my way that I would be able to win the championship over the weekend so this made me quite nervous. I haven’t raced here since April and most of the other riders had been doing practice nights so I knew the competition would be good, I’ve also been struggling going from my Moto3 bike one week to my 125 the next. My dad was working on Friday for practice so my mum took me along with my sister, I felt good on the bike from the start and quickly got onto a good pace so I was confident for the races. Saturday Qualifying The weather was really changeable with the rain coming and going but the track had basically dried for qualifying with just a couple of damp patches, as...
