Renfrew’s Jack Hart finished in the top ten in both races at the latest round of the British Superbike Motostar Moto3 Standard Championship moving him up to 12th overall in the championship. The racing took place at Scotland’s own Knockhill race circuit making this Jack’s only home round of the season.

As Jack’s home round he knows the track well and was aiming on using this knowledge to his advantage, after a good day of practice on the Friday he was confident he could be challenging for a top ten finish.

The weather was fantastic over the course of the whole weekend and this made for perfect conditions for the Saturday morning qualifying session. Jack set out to try and get some fast laps in at the start of the session but with Knockhill being such a short circuit and with there being 38 riders on the track he couldn’t get a clear lap in. He pitted to try and a get some clear space on track and this worked well and while he was still catching slower riders he set a good time and qualified in 10th position for the races. Jack was happy with that as the traffic had meant he could get into a good rhythm as he knew he would be able to go faster in the race.

In race one Jack got an ok start and managed to hold his position into the first corner but he had lost a bit of time to the group of 4 riders in front of him challenging for 6th position. He managed to close the gap after a few laps but as the pace was really quick and as the track is so tight he wasn’t able to get close enough to try and overtake and finished the race in a slightly frustrating 10th place.

Race two was on Sunday afternoon and after a good morning warmup Jack was feeling confident for the race and was determined to get a good start. Jack managed to hold his position but more importantly was right on the back of the group of Standard bikes challenging for 1st position. The pace was really quick though and they were pretty much all together for first five laps until Rhys Irwin crashed causing a small gap to appear. The front pack then pulled away a bit but Jack was still in a group of five riders. Unfortunately due to the pace being so fast he wasn’t able to make any overtakes and finished in an excellent 9th position. This was a great performance as Jacks race pace was much faster and he was much closer to the winner than he has ever been.

Jack Hart said,” I was delighted with my pace and two top ten results, I am competing against the best riders in Britain and all of the riders in front of me are quite a bit older. I’m also really happy to move into 12th position in the Championship and looking forward to try and push into the top ten in the next few races.”

The next round of the BSB Motostar Championship is at the iconic Brands Hatch GP Circuit on the weekend of 21/22 July 2018.
